How to Apply for Passport/ VISA/ Travel Documents in Tanzania

A document in booklet form issued to the citizen of The United Republic of Tanzania for the purpose of facilitating his movement across boundaries subject to laws and regulations of the country of destination or transit.
Requirements:
  • Birth Certificate, affidavit or Certificate of Naturalization.
  • Birth certificate, affidavit or Certificate of Naturalization of the parent or parents.
  • Recent, clear and un-mounted passport size photographs.
  • If the applicant is below 18 years, parents/guardians submit written consent.
Procedures:
  •  Fill the prescribed Application Form at the Immigration office.
  • Submit application form to the Director of Immigration Services.
  • Submit all required document as prescribed above.
  • Pay the prescribed fee Tshs. 50,000/=

It is a Pass issued to a foreigner other than a Prohibited Immigrant who is a legal Dependant of a citizen of the United Republic of Tanzania or of any foreigner residing in the United Republic of Tanzania who is in possession of a valid permit upon application by such persons.
Requirements:
  • The Dependant must be the wife, child, or near relative of the applicant
  • Be  able to provide adequate accommodation for such Dependant  
  • You should be assured with income sufficient to enable him to maintain adequately such Dependant.
  • Should be a citizen of the United Republic of Tanzania or of any foreigner residing in the United Republic of Tanzania who is in possession of a valid permit.
  • Six passport size photographs
Procedure:
  • Fill the  Application Form
  • Attach a copy of the Dependant’s passport valid for not less than a year
  • Submit a valid passport (for both)
  • Provide a valid Residence Permit
  • Submit  Proof  of relationship of the applicant and the Dependant
  • Proof  of the applicant’s ability to provide accommodation and means of subsistence
  • Attach the photographs








 

Visa is a permission granted to a foreigner other than a prohibited Immigrant to enter and remain in the United Republic of Tanzania for the purpose of visit, leisure, holiday, business, health treatment, studies, or any other activity which is not illegal under the Laws of the United Republic of Tanzania. Besides, Visa may be obtained at any United Republic of Tanzania Missions abroad or Consulates and also on arrival at all designated Entry Points.
  Requirements:
  • A passport or Travel Document recognized by the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania.
  • Residence Permit or a Pass  issued in accordance with Immigration Act No. 7 of 1995
  • A valid Visa (for nationals whose country require visa) points
  • Five passport size photographs 
  • Documents of  the Company or Business to be visited (for Multiple Visa)
  • Evidence to prove that the applicant is bound to travel frequently into the United Republic of Tanzania (for Multiple Visa)
  • Copy of the valid Passport or any other identity of the person to be visited (applicant's host if required).
  Procedures:
  • Fill an Application Form.
  • Attach Security Bond duly filled in (for Multiple Visa);
  • Submit applications to the office of the Principal Commissioner of Immigration Services Dar es Salaam or at the office of the Commissioner of Immigration Services Zanzibar.
  • Pay standard fee rate,Ordinary Visa is US $ 50, for Multiple Entry Visa is US $ 100 and for Transit visa is US $ 30.
  Note:
  • Possession of a Visa for United Republic of Tanzania does not provide automatic
    right of entry for the holder into the Country.








 

Emergency travel documents may be issued to a citizen of the United Republic of Tanzania who is travelling on an emergency journey and does not fulfill the normal requirements of getting a passport. Also to a person who is stranded abroad and cannot get a passport or being deported back home.
Requirements:
  • Birth certificate or an affidavit of birth or a certificate of naturalization
  • Birth certificate, or an affidavit of birth or certificate of naturalization of  your
    parent or parents
  • In case of an applicant who is below the age of sixteen years, the parent's or legal
    guardian's written consent.
  • Four Passport size photographs
Procedures:
  • Submit Application for a Passport to the Nearest Immigration Services.
  • Payment of 10,000/=
  • Attach your passport size photographs.









 

where a passport is lost, stolen or severely damaged, an application for replacement shall be accompanied by sworn declaration of the circumstances surrounding the loss, theft or damage of the passport and authority to which the loss,theft or damage was reported.
Requirement:
  • Police loss report document.
Procedures:
  • Report to the nearest police on  the loss, stolen passport
  • Announce the loss or stolen passport on the Daily news paper
  • Attach the travel documents and the old passport (if available)
  •  Reapply to the Principal Commissioner of Immigration Services
