PUBLIC NOTICE

This is to inform the general public that, it has come to the attention of the Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) that some leaders of university student's organisations have maliciously perpetuated unfounded information to the public that TCU has suspended its earlier notice that requires every student enrolled in every accredited university to pay a Tshs. 20,000/= prescribed annual Commission fee for quality assurance.
The Commission hereby denounces these rumours; they are incorrect and unfounded. Students enrolled in Universities and University Colleges are hereby reminded that payment of the said prescribed annual fee is a legal requirement pursuant to Section 16 of the Universities Act, Cap. 346, read together with Regulation 14 (1) (d) of the Universities (General) Regulations, G.N. No. 226 of 2013 and its implementation was effective from 3rd July, 2014.
By this notice, all university students are reminded to pay the annual prescribed Commission fee to be collected and remitted to the Commission by the accredited Universities and University Colleges at the time of registration for the 2015/2016 academic year.
The Commission further notes with concern the emerging tendency of wanton disregard to rules and regulations set in a democratic process among some sections of the student body.
This state of incipient lawlessness cannot be condoned for whatever reasons. Change in student leadership does not imply change of regulations previously set to govern various affairs in the university education. Thus, all university students are hereby urged to observe and comply with the laid down laws of the land.
The public is also notified that the TCU Executive Secretary is the spokesperson of the Commission. Thus any communication that does not come from the Executive Secretary or an authorised person on behalf of the Executive Secretary shall be deemed null and void.
