APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION INTO VARIOUS DEGREE AND DIPLOMA                  PROGRAMMES FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2014/2015

The  Vice-Chancellor  of  Mbeya  University  of  Science  and  Technology  (MUST)  invites
suitably  qualified  Tanzanian  and  Non  Tanzanian  candidates  for  admission  into  various
courses for the academic year 2014/2015.

1.  BACHELOR DEGREE PROGRAMMES IN:-
(i)  Technology in Architecture
(ii)  Business Administration
(iii)  Civil Engineering
(iv)  Computer Engineering
(v)  Electrical and Electronics Engineering
(vi)  Mechanical Engineering
NB:  All applicants for Bachelor degree programs  have to apply through TCU  – CAS (Centralized Admission System)

2.   ORDINARY DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES IN:-

(i)  Architecture
(ii)  Civil Engineering
(iii)  Mining Engineering
(iv)  Computer Engineering
(v)  Electrical Engineering
(vi)  Telecommunication Engineering
(vii)  Mechanical Engineering
(viii)  Mechatronics Engineering
(ix)  Food science and Technology
(x)  Laboratory Science and Technology
(xi)  Business Administration

3.  ORDINARY DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES- DIRECT ENTRY
(a)  Course Duration: 3 Academic years.

(b)   Entry Requirements:
 1.)  For  engineering  and  Technology  applicants;  Possession  of  Certificate  of
Secondary Education Examination (CSEE)  with a minimum average pass of
C grade in Mathematics, Physics / Engineering Science and Chemistry.

2. )  For  candidates  applying  for  Laboratory  Science  and  Technology  and
Food  Science  and  Technology  possession  of  Certificate  of  Secondary
Education Examination (CSEE)  with a minimum average pass of C grade in
Physics / Engineering Science/ Mathematics, Biology and Chemistry.

3. )  For  candidates  applying  for  Ordinary  Diploma  in  Business
Administration, Possession of Certificate of Secondary Education  (CSEE)
with a minimum pass of D grade in at   least five subjects

4. )   Holder of certificate of secondary education (CSEE) with a minimum of D
grade  in  five  subjects,  two  of  which  must  be  Mathematics  and  Physics/
Engineering  Science,  with  possession  of  TRADE  TEST  GRADE  I  /  NVA
LEVEL III issued by VETA.

(c) Sponsorship Mode: Applicants will be required to arrange for their own private
Sponsorship.

(d)  Delivery Mode : 
 (i) Full Time Program
(ii) Evening Program

4.  PRE-ENTRY  ACCESS  COURSE  FOR  ORDINARY  DIPLOMA  IN  ENGINEERING,
ARCHITECTURE, FOOD SCIENCE AND LABORATORY TECHNOLOGY

The  program  targets  female  applicants  who  do  not  qualify  under  direct  entry
scheme for admission to Ordinary Diploma Programs;  males applicants may also
apply.  Upon  passing  the  final  examinations,  female  applicants  with  outstanding
performance  may be sponsored by the Government whereas male applicants will be
required to arrange for their own private sponsorship.
(a)  Course Duration: 10 weeks
(b)    Entry Requirements:
i.  Possession of Certificate of Secondary Education with a minimum of D grade in
FIVE  subjects  including    Mathematics,  Chemistry  and  Physics/Engineering
Science            OR
ii.  Holder of certificate of secondary education (CSEE) with a minimum of D grade
in  at  least  three  subjects,  two  of  which  must  be  Mathematics  and  Physics/
Engineering Science, with possession of TRADE TEST GRADE I / NVA LEVEL III
issued by VETA.

5.  MATURE AGE ENTRY EXAMINATION TO ORDINARY DIPLOMA IN ENGINEERING
AND  ARCHITECTURE,  FOOD  SCIENCE  AND  TECHNOLOGY  AND  LABORATORY
SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY.

(a)  Entry Requirements:
In order to qualify for the examination a candidate must meet the following
qualifications:-
(i)   Must be aged 25 years and above.
(ii)   Possession of Certificate of Secondary Education with a minimum of D grade in FIVE
subjects including Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics/Engineering Science
OR
(iii)  Holder of certificate of secondary education (CSEE) with a minimum of D grade in at
least  three  subjects,  two  of  which  must  be  Mathematics  and  Physics/  Engineering
Science, with possession of TRADE TEST GRADE I / NVA LEVEL III issued by VETA.

(b)  Sponsorship Mode:   Applicants will be required to arrange for their own
Private Sponsorship.

6.  MODE OF APPLICATION
a)  Application  forms  can  be  obtained  from  the  office  of  the  Deputy  Principal-IST,
Mbeya University of Science and Technology or can be downloaded from the website:
www.mist.ac.tz
b)  Application forms should be returned accompanied with a non-refundable application
fee of  Tshs.  20,000/=  payable to:  The Vice-Chancellor, Mbeya University  of Science
and  Technology  through  Account  Number:  61001100022,  NMB  –Mbalizi  Road
Branch, Mbeya

7.  WARNING.  It  is  an  offence  to  submit  false  information  or  forged  certificates.  Any
applicant  who  will  be  discovered  to  have  submitted  such  information  will  not  be
considered and appropriate legal action may be taken.

The closing date for receiving Application Forms is 23rd June 2014 for Access Course Applicants and 28th August, 2014 for Direct Entry Applicants
